Item Securing implantable medical devices with runtime enforcement hardware(2019) Pearce H.; Kuo M.M.Y.; Roop P.S.; Pinisetty S.In recent years we have seen numerous proof-of-concept attacks on implantable medical devices such as pacemakers. Attackers aim to breach the strict operational constraints that these devices operate within, with the end-goal of compromising patient safety and health. Most efforts to prevent these kinds of attacks are informal, and focus on application- and system-level security-for instance, using encrypted communications and digital certificates for program verification. However, these approaches will struggle to prevent all classes of attacks. Runtime verification has been proposed as a formal methodology for monitoring the status of implantable medical devices. Here, if an attack is detected a warning is generated. This leaves open the risk that the attack can succeed before intervention can occur. In this paper, we propose a runtime-enforcement based approach for ensuring patient security. Custom hardware is constructed for individual patients to ensure a safe minimum quality of service at all times. To ensure correctness we formally verify the hardware using a model-checker. We present our approach through a pacemaker case study and demonstrate that it incurs minimal overhead in terms of execution time and power consumption. 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.Item Modelling the major stream delay due to U-turns(2019) Mohanty M.; Dey P.P.This study assesses the delay faced by approaching through vehicles at uncontrolled median openings due to U-turning movement. Under limited priority situation, the U-turning vehicles accept smaller gaps which compel the through vehicles to reduce their speeds and experience delays. First, the slowdown section is identified and the delay faced by through vehicles from the starting of slowdown section to start of median opening is estimated. This is termed as approach delay. The approaching vehicles shift laterally as they approach toward the median opening. The concept of zone has been introduced to study this lateral movement. This study shows that the vehicles moving through the zone adjacent to curb face more delay as compared to the vehicles moving through the zone adjacent to median. Finally, a regression model is developed for estimating approach delay faced by any vehicle category traveling through a particular zone at a given U-turning traffic volume. 2017, 2017 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.Item Observation of ?- ??-??e+e- and search for ?- ??-???+?-(2019) Jin Y.; Aihara H.; Epifanov D.; Adachi I.; Al Said S.; Asner D.M.; Aulchenko V.; Aushev T.; Ayad R.; Babu V.; Badhrees I.; Bahinipati S.; Bansal V.; Behera P.; Berger M.; Bhardwaj V.; Bilka T.; Biswal J.; Bobrov A.; Bonvicini G.; Bozek A.; Bra?ko M.; Campajola M.; Cao L.; ?ervenkov D.; Chekelian V.; Chen A.; Cheon B.G.; Chilikin K.; Cho H.E.; Cho K.; Choi Y.; Choudhury S.; Cinabro D.; Cunliffe S.; Di Carlo S.; Doleal Z.; Dong T.V.; Dossett D.; Eidelman S.; Fast J.E.; Ferber T.; Fulsom B.G.; Garg R.; Gaur V.; Gabyshev N.; Garmash A.; Giri A.; Goldenzweig P.; Golob B.; Greenwald D.; Grzymkowska O.; Haba J.; Hayasaka K.; Hayashii H.; Hedges M.T.; Hou W.-S.; Huang K.; Iijima T.; Inami K.; Inguglia G.; Ishikawa A.; Iwasaki M.; Iwasaki Y.; Jacobs W.W.; Jeon H.B.; Jia S.; Joffe D.; Joo K.K.; Kahn J.; Kaliyar A.B.; Karyan G.; Kawasaki T.; Kichimi H.; Kiesling C.; Kim D.Y.; Kim H.J.; Kim K.T.; Kim S.H.; Kinoshita K.; Kody P.; Korpar S.; Kotchetkov D.; Krian P.; Kroeger R.; Krokovny P.; Kulasiri R.; Kumar R.; Kuzmin A.; Kwon Y.-J.; Lalwani K.; Lange J.S.; Lee J.Y.; Lee S.C.; Li C.H.; Li L.K.; Li Y.B.; Li Gioi L.; Libby J.; Lieret K.; Liptak Z.; Liventsev D.; Lu P.-C.; Luo T.; Macnaughton J.; Masuda M.; Matsuda T.; Matvienko D.; Merola M.; Miyabayashi K.; Miyata H.; Mizuk R.; Mori T.; Mussa R.; Nakano E.; Nakao M.; Nath K.J.; Natkaniec Z.; Nayak M.; Niiyama M.; Nisar N.K.; Nishida S.; Ogawa S.; Ono H.; Onuki Y.; Pakhlov P.; Pakhlova G.; Pal B.; Pardi S.; Park H.; Park S.-H.; Patra S.; Paul S.; Pedlar T.K.; Pestotnik R.; Piilonen L.E.; Popov V.; Prencipe E.; Purohit M.V.; Rostomyan A.; Russo G.; Sahoo D.; Sakai Y.; Salehi M.; Sandilya S.; Santelj L.; Sanuki T.; Savinov V.; Schneider O.; Schnell G.; Schueler J.; Schwanda C.; Seino Y.; Senyo K.; Seon O.; Sevior M.E.; Shebalin V.; Shen C.P.; Shiu J.-G.; Shwartz B.; Simon F.; Singh J.B.; Sokolov A.; Solovieva E.; Stani? The ?-??-??e+e- decay is observed for the first time with 7.0? significance. The partial branching fraction determined by the structure-dependent mechanisms mediated by either a vector or an axial-vector current for the mass region M?ee>1.05 GeV/c2 is measured to be B(?-??-??e+e-)[M?-e+e->1.05 GeV/c2]=(5.900.530.850.11)10-6, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to model dependence. In the full phase space, due to the different detection efficiencies for the structure-dependent mechanisms mediated by axial-vector and vector currents, the branching fraction varies from BA(?-??-??e+e-)=(1.460.130.21)10-5 to BV(?-??-??e+e-)=(3.010.270.43)10-5, respectively. An upper limit is set on the branching fraction of the ?-??-???+?- decay, B(?-??-???+?-)<1.1410-5, at the 90% confidence level. 2019 authors. A physical plate (collimator) parallel to the substrate has been suitably placed in order to constrain the angle of incoming deposition vapor flux. The distance between substrate and this collimator as well as the distance between substrate to crucible orifice has been optimized for maximum variation in Ag morphology which resulted in the discussed tunability. SEM images acquired across the sample surface on the best optimized sample show variation of Ag morphology from nearly continuous film to Ag nanocolumns (dia-135 nm) and then to Ag nanoislands of varying size (2683 nm) with the variation in height from substrate bottom edge. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak of this Ag nanostructure has been found to shift to longer wavelength and to broaden with the increase of thickness across the substrate surface. The estimated band gap values of the Ag nanostructure are non-zero which reveals its dielectric like dispersion behavior. Thickness and optical constants at various locations on the best optimized sample have been estimated through spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements and the obtained results have been validated with measured transmission spectrophotometry spectra. Three different ellipsometry models have been tried to fit the ellipsometry data of such grown ultrathin film consisting of Ag nanoislands/nanocolumns. An effective media consisting of the mixture of bulk Ag, dielectric media represented by Lorentz oscillator and air was found to be the best to describe the disperision behavior of the deposited Ag film. The dielectric like dispersion behavior of Ag ultrathin film has been ascribed to localized surface Plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect of Ag nanoislands in optical wavelength region. Due to the gradual variation of thickness and optical constants across the film, the optimized film exhibits variation in average optical transmittance (6001000 nm) from 1.1% to 91% across 40 mm distance which demonstrates its potential for application as variable optical transmission attenuator. Finally, this novel deposition flux constrainment technique has been regarded as an effective method for fabrication of tunable Ag nano-morphologies for optical and surface plasmonic applications. 2019 Elsevier B.V.Item Uncompensated surface states in antiferromagnetic FeF2 nanoparticles induced by mechanical milling(2019) Panda N.R.; Pati S.P.; Das D.Here we report an efficient way to prepare antiferromagnetic nanoparticles comprising core-shell structure. Surface modification affecting structural and magnetic properties of FeF2 nanoparticles are also extensively studied. The samples were prepared by the high energy planetary ball-milling method with varying milling hour. Expected structural changes are observed and studied using X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopic measurements which show the nanoparticles decrease in size with an inflation in lattice micro-strain. Hyperfine analysis manifests two paramagnetic doublets revealing the existence of multiple charge states of Fe ions. The enhancement in percentage area with milling duration of the doublet linked with Fe3+ ions enunciates the distribution of these ions near or at the surface. Magnetization studies show a vertical shift of M-H curve and an increase in coercive field below Neel temperature (TN) implying the possible effect of exchange bias between the FeF3 uncompensated surface spins and the compensated FeF2 core. Temperature dependent ZFC-FC magnetization curves exhibit a large bifurcation below observed TN indicating a strong exchange coupling between compensated core and uncompensated shell. 2019Item A silica-gel accelerated [4?+?2] cycloaddition-based biomimetic approach towards the first total synthesis of magterpenoid C(2019) Kumar D.; Kumar V.; Salam A.; Khan T.The first total synthesis of magterpenoid C has been realized via a silica gel accelerated biomimetic Diels-Alder reaction between ?-myrcene and randaiol derived quinone. However, application of similar strategy towards magterpenoid B via a protective Diels-Alder reaction failed to deliver the natural product. 2019 Elsevier LtdItem Comparison of titanium dioxide based catalysts preparation methods in the mineralization and nutrients removal from greywater by solar photocatalysis(2019) Priyanka K.; Remya N.; Behera M.The present study investigated the solar photocatalytic treatment of greywater using modified TiO2 catalysts, viz., M-TiO2, UTiO2, NP-TiO2, and NT-TiO2 synthesized through ultrasonication, microwave, and sol-gel method with/without doping respectively. X-ray dispersive spectroscopy (XRD) results indicated a negligible change in the crystallinity of the modified catalysts compared to commercial TiO2 catalyst, Degussa P-25 (P-25). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis depicted the lowest particle size of 88.89 nm for UTiO2. The calculated band gap energy for P-25, UTiO2, M-TiO2, NP-TiO2, and NT-TiO2 were 3.65, 3.1, 3.5, 3.35, and 2.7 eV, respectively. The mineralization efficiency was in the order of NT-TiO2>UTiO2>NP-TiO2?M-TiO2>P-25, with the highest mineralization efficiency of about 75% within 3 h using NT-TiO2. The nitrate removal was in the order of NT-TiO2>UTiO2?NP-TiO2>M-TiO2>P-25, with the nitrate removal of 92.5%. Simultaneous oxidation of organic matter and reduction of ammonia were observed during the solar photocatalytic treatment of greywater. The comparison of sunlight NT-TiO2system with other photocatalytic treatment employed for greywater reveals that the NT-TiO2 system was highly energy efficient (?31.86 kWh (kgCOD)?1) compared to other systems. 2019Item Biochar from microwave pyrolysis of rice husk for tertiary wastewater treatment and soil nourishment(2019) Shukla N.; Sahoo D.; Remya N.The present study investigated the potential tertiary treatment of wastewater by adsorption using rice husk biochar (RHC) obtained from microwave pyrolysis of rice husk. Adsorption experiments with RHC indicated phosphate and nitrate adsorption of 65% and 75% respectively. The adsorption kinetics indicated pseudo-second-order adsorption model for adsorption of nutrients on biochar with an R2 value more than 0.98. In addition, the Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm was observed to represent the adsorption of phosphate on RHC, whereas adsorption data of nitrate depicted Langmuir isotherm followed by Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherms. The maximum phosphate and nitrate adsorption capacity were 71 mg/kg and 497 mg/kg respectively using Langmuir isotherm model. The desorption study indicated a release of 96.6% and 44.4% of adsorbed phosphate and nitrate, respectively. Hence, from 1 kg of nutrient loaded RHC about 68 mg of phosphate and 220 mg of nitrate can be extracted for land application. 2019Item Nickel(II)-Catalysed CH Functionalization and Tandem Coupling of Terminal Alkynes with 1,3-Dicarbonyls: Expedient Route to Functionalized Furans(2019) Mohanty A.; Roy S.dl-[Ni(Phen)3]Cl2/Ag2CO3 assisted coupling of alkynes with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds gave the corresponding substituted furans in good to excellent yields, and with good substrate scope. Ruggles T.; Savin A.; Sharma V.; Smith W.H.; Teague D.; Trembath-reichert S.; Woods N.; The CMS collaborationA search for supersymmetry (SUSY) is presented where at least one Higgs boson is produced and decays to two photons in the decay chains of pair-produced SUSY particles. Two analysis strategies are pursued: one focused on strong SUSY production and the other focused on electroweak SUSY production. The presence of charged leptons, additional Higgs boson candidates, and various kinematic variables are used to categorize events into search regions that are sensitive to different SUSY scenarios. The results are based on data from proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 77.5 fb?1. No statistically significant excess of events is observed relative to the standard model expectations. We exclude bottom squark pair production for bottom squark masses below 530 GeV and a lightest neutralino mass of 1 GeV; wino-like chargino-neutralino production in gauge-mediated SUSY breaking (GMSB) for chargino and neutralino masses below 235 GeV with a gravitino mass of 1 GeV; and higgsino-like chargino-neutralino production in GMSB, where the neutralino decays exclusively to a Higgs boson and a gravitino for neutralino masses below 290 GeV.
