Abstract

The Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) is a modern trend of intravehicular communication for providing Intelligent Transportation Services. It offers information exchange among vehicles, road side units (RSU) as well as it allows all participating car to connect and, to create a network. However, VANET has many challenges and opportunities; such as vehicular mobility, intermittent connection and dynamic topology changes. This paper presents a vehicular mobility model for Bhubaneswar city and presents the performance analysis results using packet routing protocols. Based on our studies of existing topology based routing protocols we proposed two routing protocols: 1) dynamic source routing (DSR) and 2) optimized link state routing protocol which ensure the reliability in terms of information packet dissemination in an efficient way. To validate our design we feed the VANET mobility traces to NetSim simulation tool and SUMO and studied the routing behavior and channel characteristics. 2018 IEEE.
