Abstract
The formulation for transient divergence of radiative heat flux is revisited in the present article, taking into account the transient effect. The proposed formulation is a more general form of the conventional divergence of radiative heat flux, which is valid in the both steady as well as transient radiative transfer phenomena. The transient radiative transfer equation, coupled with the energy equation via modified divergence of radiative heat flux, is solved using the finite volume method.Atwo-dimensional model is presented to compare the effect of modified flux. It is observed that the conventional divergence of radiative heat flux underpredicts the temperature of the medium in the time scale where transient radiation effect is predominant.
