With increasing frequency and intensity of disasters and large number of people being affected by them, the subject needs more attention and a planned approach. And in order to reduce the adverse impact of disasters and to improve the disaster relief practices, academicians and practitioners are emphasizing on a number of diverse factors of humanitarian supply chain by segmenting them into different clusters. This research is intended to address the critical success factors (CSFs) of humanitarian supply chain which emerges during disaster preparedness and immediate response phase. Through a review of literature and expert consultation, 12 critical success factors leading to responsive humanitarian supply chains have been identified. In this paper, the authors have used Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) approach to interpret the interdependency among the selected CSFs. In addition, MICMAC (Matrice d'Impacts Croiss Multiplication Applique un Classement (cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification)) analysis is also used to illustrate the relative driving and dependence power among the selected factors. This paper argues that, Government policies and Organizational structure is the most dominating factor which has the highest driving power and the minimum dependence power as it drive others factors and forms the base of interpretive structure model. The outcome of this research presents the insight of humanitarian supply chain practices and discussion from both a researcher and managerial perspective is also summarized. 2015 Elsevier Ltd.en_US
