We report a study on the electric field analysis, propagation characteristics (propagation length and penetration depth) and performance analysis of an optical fiber based plasmonic sensor using dielectric overlayers such as Graphene, Graphene Oxide (GO), and Silicon (Si) on silver (Ag). The usage of graphene and GO helps to protect silver from oxidation along with opening a new window for bio sensing. We found that the GO as a dielectric overlayer on Ag exhibit higher electric field intensity and Figure of Merit (FOM) as compared to widely used dielectric like Si and Graphene. 2018 IOP Publishing Ltd.en_US
