Abstract
This research finds an economical expediency of renewable energy system that is grid-connected for the remote area applications in the Awbeh village located in 90 km East of Herat city in North-West of Afghanistan. The research was conducted by examining the potential of solar and wind energy as well as compiling information from other sources. With the help of the programme Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewables (HOMER-Pro), the data was examined and the suggested hybrid power system's economic viability was evaluated. Models for ON and OFF grid have been developed and optimised for comparison. Each model has also undergone a sensitivity analysis to determine how changes in the price of grid energy will affect the overall cost. The simulation findings show that the proposed ON-grid hybrid power system for the Awbeh hamlet is relatively acceptable and cost competitive. 2022 IEEE.
