Abstract
The grid-connection of a single-phase reduced switch multilevel inverter topology using a PI-controller to inject sinusoidal current at the unity power factor into the grid is presented in this work. The PI-controller based current controller generates the voltage reference for the nearest-level modulation technique, which can effectively reduce the switching losses in the multilevel inverter topology, hence enabling higher efficiency. The controller's performance is also evaluated using system stability analysis. This controller's performance for the proposed topology is verified in terms of total harmonics distortion in the grid current and grid injected power error through MATLAB/Simulink simulations. 2021 IEEE.
