Abstract
The present work analyzed the geotechnical characteristics of soil at the CL paper mill factory construction site and proposes a foundation design. The SPT values of soil layers of siltclay soil were observed to be 2.9 2, 6.4 3.7 and 10.8 5, respectively, while the SPT value of sandgravel soil layers were observed to be 20.8 7.9, 37.9 8.1 and 55 8. The correlation between fine particle (silt/clay) and coarse (sand/gravel) particle and the SPT value was 0.6219 and 0.6903, respectively. The boring SPT values, settlement and the pressing load and length of test pile was mapped on the heat diagram. The correlation between test pile-driven pressing load and the SPT value of four closest boreholes ranges 0.432 to 0.996 for D400 pile and 0.423 to 0.980 for D450 pile. The correlation between test pile-driven pile settlement and the SPT value of layer 3 (3a, 3b and 3c) for D400 and D450 pile was 0.4996 and 0.4555, respectively. The results inferred that the pile-driven pressing, pile settlement has a close relation with the SPT index. The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
