Abstract

Superior multimedia facility to consumers at anytime and at anyplace is the requirement for next generation mobile satellite communication. Forming a network between the satellites along with various earth stations is a promising solution to achieve this goal. In this paper, a high speed inter-satellite optical wireless communication system is designed with space and polarization diversity techniques. The system is designed, simulated and analyzed for a link distance of 6,000 km with achievable bit-rate of 7.63 Gbps. The projected system provides an improvement of data rate of 1.35 times to that of the previously proposed work. The performance parameters of the system are Q-factor, eye opening, bit error rate etc. The purported setup will be very much practicable for present and forthcoming generation low earth orbit inter-satellite communication applications. � 2015 IEEE.
