Abstract

The operation of switched mode power converters occur through distinct states depending upon the status of each of the control switches. For each operating state, the circuit parameters can be estimated by evaluating the topological behavioral equations. This work presents emulating of state variables for any power electronic dc-dc converter with time by recursively solving the characteristic equations in time-domain. These equations have been implemented on a digital signal processor to demonstrate the converter operation. The resulting system can be used for educational purposes to demonstrate the behavior of power converters with minimum hardware requirement, hence providing a low-cost option. Demonstrations of dc-dc buck and boost converters have been implemented using STM microcontroller and the behavior has been presented in this work. 2021 IEEE.
