Abstract
The uncertainties and system stability is decreasing day by day due to the fast penetration of renewable energies into the power distribution network. To ride through the issue of instabilities in the distribution network, the chapter proposes a novel concept of hybrid energy storage integration with the robust battery charge equalization scheme. The performance evaluation was done for the stated novel charge equalization scheme having the two kinds of high energy dense storage element in the topology. As per the topology, battery and the compressed air energy storage system were actively integrated at dc-side to ensure the high energy density of the smart grid. Furthermore, to minimize the bus voltage and frequency oscillation, a flywheel storage system integrated with the state of power management capability was introduced. The comparative performance of the proposed system is satisfactory while evaluated under critical and real-world scenarios. � 2024 Scrivener Publishing LLC.
