Abstract
There are numbers of literature available which give analysis methods for modeling of soil-pile interaction to evaluate the pile response. For example, elastic continuum approach and Beam on Nonlinear Winkler Foundation (BNWF) model. In elastic continuum approach pile is taken as a strip and surrounding soil as homogeneous elastic continuum. In BNWF model the pile is considered to be supported by a series of uncoupled linear or nonlinear springs. BNWF model is preferred over other models because of its mathematical convenience and easy incorporation of nonlinearity in the modeling. Strength and stiffness get reduced and the soil then acts like a liquid rather than solid in case of liquefied soil. Soil-pile interaction study in liquefiable soils and modeling of it is undoubtedly a complex issue. In this paper, various modeling techniques of soil-pile-interaction in liquefiable soils are discussed. The usability of those models and their advantages and disadvantages are also reported. 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
