Abstract
The paper presents a new wide-area backup scheme with fewer Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) measurements. The present scheme first identifies the faulty section using voltage difference from different paths. The faulted line identification scheme inside faulty section using the change in voltage and element of impedance matrix from selected PMU buses is used to find the faulty line. Study has been carried out for several fault and stressed condition on New-England 39-bus system to prove its dependability and security attributes. � 2020 IEEE
