Abstract

In this work, we demonstrate a facile low temperature synthesis approach to tune ? and ?-NiMoO4 by controlling the urea concentration. Comparative non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose sensing properties of NiMoO4 nanomaterials with ? and ? phases have been studied in detail. The mechanisms related to the phase and morphology transformation from ?-NiMoO4 nanoparticles to ?-NiMoO4 nanosheets are proposed and discussed by thoroughly characterizing the as-prepared materials. It is observed that the ?-NiMoO4 exhibits sensitivity of 0.208 ?A?M?1cm?2 whereas sensitivity of 1.057 ?A?M?1cm?2 is achieved for the ?-NiMoO4. Thus, it is confirmed that ?- NiMoO4 nanosheets perform five times high glucose sensing performance as compared to the ?-NiMoO4 nanoparticles and demonstrates its application as high-performance glucose sensor. 2016 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
